How Locallista Works
We vet every professional
Before any business appears on Locallista, our team interviews their past clients by phone. We collect real reviews from real customers. Only businesses that score 8.5 out of 10 or higher make the cut.
You find the right match
Browse over 150 categories of local services — from accountants and electricians to movers and therapists. Every listing shows verified scores, real reviews, and the languages each professional speaks.
We keep the standard high
After every service, we follow up with customers to collect feedback. Businesses that drop below an 8.5 score are removed. No pay-to-play, no boosted rankings — only real results decide who stays.
Built on trust, driven by reviews
We felt it too
We are expats. We know what it is like to need a reliable plumber and not know who to call. Back home we had a network — people we trusted because someone we trusted recommended them. Here, we faced language barriers, cultural differences, and recommendations that did not always work out. So we built Locallista: a community where every professional is vetted by real people, reviewed after real jobs, and stays listed only if they keep delivering. No shortcuts, no pay-to-play — just trust, earned one review at a time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Before a business is listed, our community managers phone-interview past clients, collect at least three positive references from expat customers, verify identity and licenses where applicable, and moderate the profile before it goes live. After listing, most reviews are collected by a real person calling the customer after the service event — not an anonymous web form.
Yes. Locallista is free forever for expats — no subscription, no fees, no hidden costs. Businesses pay a one-time entry fee when they join and a service fee of 5-12% only on completed, paid jobs. If the job does not happen, nobody pays anything.
Locallista is built for the English-speaking international community. Every profile shows the languages the professional speaks, so you can filter for English before booking. The vetting process prioritizes professionals who can serve expats in their own language, including English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
8.5 out of 10 is our minimum score to stay listed. If a business drops below it, we remove them — no exceptions and no way to pay to stay. The score comes from phone-verified reviews of real customers, so there is no way to buy a higher position. Position on Locallista is determined by review score only.
Locallista currently operates in Lisbon and Barcelona. Luxembourg, Amsterdam, and Singapore are launching next. Professionals are always local to the city you choose — we do not run a national or global directory. Pick your city and the category of service you need.
