I recently hired Hugo from Património Vertical to do some restoration work on the azulejos at our new home in Monte Estoril, which is a cultural heritage property. We chose him because we learned about his impressive work on the Sintra Palácio de Pena. Communication was great as he speaks both English and French, and he even taught us a few Portuguese words along the way. Hugo completed the job without any delays, and the results were truly amazing—our house looks fantastic with no damage whatsoever. I've already recommended him to others for his outstanding work!

I recently hired Hugo from Património Vertical to design the scenography for our gallery, and I couldn't be happier with his work. He's been incredibly helpful, stepping in last minute to set things up and always delivering on what he promises. His skillset is amazing; our gallery has some tough finishes that are tricky to mount things on, but Hugo always found a solution. It's not just about following a textbook with him—he excels at thinking outside the box. Hugo even helped us fix an electrical issue that wasn't part of his job description. The results have always matched our vision perfectly, like when he set up a design for a photoshoot; it was executed flawlessly. He's very flexible too—whenever he has openings, he manages to make time for us. While timing can be challenging in this business, Hugo has delivered as best as anyone could, and we've been really happy with his work. We'll definitely be working with him again in the future!

I've had Hugo from Património Vertical work on my building a couple of times now. It's an old structure, dating back to 1910, with these unique stone window frames that needed some restoration. Hugo did a great job fixing up the damaged stones and cleaning everything up. During renovations in 2017 and 2018, although I couldn't preserve everything original, we managed to keep the entrance moldings intact. There was this incident when a carpenter (not part of Hugo's team) accidentally punched a hole through the ceiling with a machine. The hole was about 30 centimeters across, but Hugo handled it delicately and crafted an intricate plaster mold to repair it beautifully. I live on two floors of the building in Calçada de Santana and rent out the rest—thanks to Hugo, my place still retains its historic charm!

Why we created Locallista?
As expats, we understand how overwhelming it can be to settle into a new city, where even simple tasks become difficult without a network, complicated by language barriers and cultural differences. That’s why we created Locallista — a closed platform where expats connect with trusted service providers recommended by the community, ensuring clear communication in English or their native languages, making life easier.
