I've been having Emma teach my 10-year-old daughter piano for the past six months with weekly face-to-face private lessons that last just under an hour. Initially, my daughter was hesitant about taking up piano lessons again as she hadn't enjoyed her experiences with previous teachers. However, Emma has really turned things around for her. She actually looks forward to her lessons now and is enjoying learning to play the piano. I'm grateful we found Emma and appreciate how she's made music fun for my child.

I've been taking weekly piano lessons with Emma for the past 18 months and I'm impressed with her teaching. As a complete beginner, but with some clarinet background, I found her to be very reliable and her in-depth knowledge is quite amazing. She has a great skill set for teaching newbies like me, and in this time, I've already learned to play three great pieces of music. Our 1.5-hour sessions fly by because she's friendly and easy to get along with. Plus, she comes right to my house which is really helpful. Emma has definitely made my musical journey an enjoyable one!

I've been working with Emma for several years now, ever since she left her job at a music school to provide private lessons. She's always been impeccable in her service—arriving on time for each session at our home. Our daughter, who is now 13, started learning piano from Emma at the age of 8. What really stands out about Emma’s teaching style is how personal and low-pressure it feels—it's more like learning from a friend than a strict classical music teacher. She always makes sure to tailor the lessons to what my daughter enjoys by asking about her musical preferences, making the one-hour weekly sessions truly engaging. During the pandemic, we had to switch to online classes, but now we're back to fully in-person sessions. Also worth mentioning is that she conducts all her lessons in English which has been great for us.

Why we created Locallista?

As expats, we understand how overwhelming it can be to settle into a new city, where even simple tasks become difficult without a network, complicated by language barriers and cultural differences. That’s why we created Locallista — a closed platform where expats connect with trusted service providers recommended by the community, ensuring clear communication in English or their native languages, making life easier.
